bon voyage is an ever-shifting constellation of musicians led by paris-based producer and bass player adrien durand. durand was first spotted in 2009 by jamal moss, boss of renowned chicago label mathematics recordings, which released durand s solo effort (impersonnel naviguant) under the moniker les aéroplanes. that first record, done using a very academic house music setup consisting of an eight-track cassette recorder, a drum machine, a cheap analog synthesiser and an even cheaper sampler, caught the attention of such dj s as beautiful swimmer and toby tobias. for his bon voyage project, durand recruited drummer nicolas ballay and keyboard player/engineer maxime kosinetz. while opening for legendary italian dj daniele baldelli, the band caught the attention of chicken lips s steve kotey, who released bon voyage s first two records (sorciers des aéroports, l imposture) on stendec, a new imprint created for the occasion

acid, no wave and experimental house producer drvg cvltvre has been busy recently. after releasing with chris moss acid on shipwrec in 2014, vincent koreman then served up a full ep of his own, on dutch label cos_mos and is now back once again with a new four track affair on pinkman that comes two years after he offered up the label’s first ep in 2013. up first, * my houz* is a swampy house track with heavy drums, whirring machines and white noise textures all adding up to an intense affair that sounds like little else. then comes * tyranny of the gods* , a slow tempo but high impact track that builds and builds on a nerve lead synth line as frazzled bass props things up from below. dark and weird, occult and rave, its another unique proposition. on the flip, * sleepdealer* is an unbalanced house track with taught, tight bass and is shot through with laser like synths. serene and spaced out, it makes way for closer * crack spirit guide* which is a noisy, intense and brooding fusion of crisp percussion, big walls of synth and chattering drums that really have you on edge. once agin, then, drvg cvltvre has come up with the idiosyncratic goods.

garofano rosso is the latest project by italian producer giorgio luceri, perhaps better known for his work on jamal moss mathematics label. this new work eschews the house stylings of previous releases in favour of a more classic cosmic approach. echoes of tangerine dreams thief ost mixed with what could perhaps be the imaginary soundtrack to miami vice if it had infact been set in rimini and starred maurizio merli as sonny crockett. these are not however just mere mood pieces, but take the sun, the sea and the body-count straight to the dancefloor. not to be missed. mastered by alek stark. artwork by eric lee. always limited. download code included.

an ornate globe made with many layers of exotic woods spins on its axis. through the stained glass window diffuse light casts russet hews across the study. looking out over the walled garden to an orchard, great swollen purple and black fruits hang malevolently from mangled moss-covered trees. a gentle wind pushes the tangled branches and as they creak and moan the fruits thud lazily to the ground, gathering in mouldering clusters on the dewy grass.

producer and boss of mathematics records, jamal moss a.k.a hieroglyphic being is a one-off musical explorer. jamals music takes cues from the ebm and house that played a huge part in the city s musical underground in the late eighties and early nineties, notably ron hardy and adonis, but also industrial, avant-jazz and noise. his tireless schedule of rough low-key releases over the last 12 years and his intense, very physical, psychedelic music, have made him a key exponent or maybe even a pioneer of what has recently come to be named outsider house, although he prefers the more sun-ra like descriptors of rhythmic cubism and cosmic be-bop.
